NOTE: This is Plan B in case the Aransas NWR bay trip is too windy. It is posted here for your information. We will make the decision depending on the forecast and all participants will be notified. Please register for the Aransas NWR trip and not for this trip.

Trip Description:  This will be a Level 2 bay paddle about 8 miles in length with a lunch stop.
We will meet at 9:30 AM to launch at 10:00 AM from the boat ramp on Turtle Bay at the end of Jensen Road (CR 340).  It's about a two hour drive from Houston. If you staying in or near Seadrift for Saturday's paddle, it's about a one hour to the put-in that is on your way home.

As shown on the Google map view below, we will mosey around Turtle Bay, maybe stick our noses into Matagorda Bay if it's not too rough, and visit the strip-ed lighthouse.

As I recall, there are no facilities at the put-in. The lunch stop has some outstanding bushes, trees, soft mud, and fire ants.

Striped Lighthouse

Lat - lon of the put-in is:   28°41'15.08"N,  96°16'28.61"W

Directions to the Put-in:  The map link on this page will get you very close.

I prefer the 15 minute longer southern (Hwy 35) route due to construction and trucks on Hwy 59.

Hazards: South Texas critters - alligators, fire ants, wasps, snakes. poison ivy. Live oysters may be present in shallow water so wear good footwear. The bay can get choppy in a 12+ mph wind. remember to dress for possible immersion and WEAR NO COTTON. Water is still pretty cool. Have a set of dry clothing in a dry bag in your boat. Have plenty of water and good sun protection and rain gear. Bring lunch and snacks.

Registration note: If you are a HASK member, you can click through the page that asks for your ACA number and emergency contacts. Your Profile already has that information.
