About this event

Recent thunderstorms have made the Trinity unsuitable for paddling at this time. I will reschedule a trip to the Trinity when conditions improve. Instead, join us at Lake Raven in Huntsville State Park. This is a beautiful 210 acre lake in the heart of the state park. We will meet at the boat launch in the back of the park and be ready to paddle by 9:00 AM. It's about 25 minutes from my house, so afterward everyone is invited to come over for hamburgers on the grill!

This should be a relaxing paddle along the Trinity River above Lake Livingston. We'll basically wander upstream a few miles, then return to the launch. It's about 10 minutes from my house, so afterward everyone is invited to come over for hamburgers on the grill! I will post a separate event for that in case there are those who want to come socialize but are unable to paddle first.

I should mention that if there are heavy rains there can be a lot of debris in the Trinity. I will check the river beforehand, and if it's a problem we can move to Lake Raven at Sam Houston State Park as a backup.

Level 2 Trip Description:  Expect to paddle 9-10 miles.

After the paddle, let's meet at my house and grill/

Hazards: Early Summer conditions, potentially quite hot. Some wind possible. There are alligators in the lake, and possibly snakes. Possibly some light boat traffic on the lake, however there is a no-wake rule so they shouldn't pose an issue.
