About this event

Meet at 9:00 to paddle at 9:30. This will be an 8 - 10 mile round trip Level 2 paddle from Cagle Recreation area to Stubblefield Recreation Area. Bring lunch to eat on a break at Stubblefield. The paddle will be on near-shore open water of Lake Conroe with some boat traffic. Spray skirts will probably not be required, but might be desirable if we have some boat waves.

Air temperature will be in the upper 80s to  low 90s, so be sure to have sun protection, a hat, and ample water in your boat. . Bring a lunch.

From downtown Houston, take I-45 north about 55 miles to New Waverly. Take exit 102 and turn left onto FM 1375. Drive 6.4 miles and turn left onto Cagle Road. continue to parking and boat launch. I believe there is a $5 day use fee.

Hazards -- The usual southeast Texas snakes, fire ants, mosquitos, wasps, killer rabbits, broken bottles, power boats, waterspouts, slippery boat ramps can be expected among others, both expected and unexpected. The possibility of bears, rattlesnakes, and tarantulas cannot be totally discounted. Wear good closed-toe footwear for submerged debris; you can take your shoes off at lunch to show us your new pedicure. SUN AND HEAT! Have good sun protection and drink plenty of water.
