Topic:    Alicia Mein-Johnson of Jesse Jones Park is our speaker.  We'll chat about native plants & native birds and how to use iNaturalist / Seek / Merlin apps to identify local critters we encounter on our kayak, biking and hiking forays!

Alicia is a naturalist at Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center just up US-59 in Humble, which, from her home, is a short bike ride over the river and through the woods. She does kayak!

Having been an educator and coach for 15 years, she now volunteers on the board of the Texas Association for Environmental Education and Native Plant Society - Pines and Prairies Chapter, is a Texas Master Naturalist (class of 2002) and is a Texas Certified Environmental Educator.

Once upon a time, she led field trips for The Nature Conservancy of Texas, and her favorite location is the top of Dolan Falls on the Devils River. She earned a B.S. in Biology and Speech Communication from Trinity University, where she also ran Cross Country and Track & Field. In her free time, Alicia gardens for blueberries and butterflies and she is a regular fan at Astros baseball games.
