This training offers an opportunity to learn and practice basic paddle strokes (e.g. forward, sweep, draw, brace).

If time, interest and energy permit, some maneuvering strokes can be covered (e.g. bow and stern rudder, low brace turn)

If you normally paddle with a spray skirt, you can bring and wear one, just for practice.  With a spray skirt you can push strokes that incorporate edging, but it is not necessary to your learning.

All sorts of paddling craft are acceptable.

Environmental hazards - mainly heat and sun.  Bring water and dress appropriately. If thunderstorms look possible I may have to postpone or cancel.  Water quality deemed acceptable for surface work and occasional capsize.

I am restricting students to 4, plus me, This is the biggest group I can properly and safely teach paddle strokes by myself.  If other HASK folk want to join as instructors I will increase the event head count.

There is a good parking lot and changing /restrooms at Northshore Park.  I would like to launch as close to 9 AM as possible.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
