Laurie Gonzalez has been at the Trinity River Refuge for 18 years and has worked with bats, to insects, to birds, and everything in between. She has also watched the floodplain from the most severe drought in history to the most flooding. She is from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas but has now lived a new childhood in Liberty. She says, "No day on the refuge is ever the same or boring!'
Laurie talks to animals and they tell her their secrets. Laurie will highlight the secrets she has learned from radio tracking Rafinesque's big-eared bats and from listening to other bats through acoustical surveys. Laurie will be discussing the secret Rafinesque's big-eared bats and the recently proposed endangered Tri-colored Bats primarily, but will also review other bats. You would be amazed at what they have shared with her.
She will be teaching us about all aspects of the Trinity Refuge and Champion Lake.
