Let’s wet paddles together this glorious autumn morning and glide across Lake Texana towards Texana Park and Campground.
Constantin will meet participants at the Mustang Creek Boat Ramp at 9AM on Saturday and lead the group to Texana Park and Campground. Please be ready to launch at 9:30AM. This is an approximately 12 miles flat water out and back trip suitable for most paddlers with reasonable stamina.
We will stop for lunch at a waterfront campsite booked by Constantin’s family for the weekend. It can be hot or windy, but the water temperature should be pleasant for most people. For those that wish to participate in a rescue practice session involving capsizing, we can do that on our way paddling back to Mustang Creek Boat Ramp. Constantin will paddle back to Mustang Creek Boat Ramp to escort participants to their vehicles.
There is ample flat, waterfront space, for multiple boats and tents at the campsite reserved by Constantin’s family. There are restrooms and showers available. Those that wish to practice kayak-camping or canoe-camping away from your vehicle, should come prepared with personal camping gear and food for one night campout. Please let Constantin know ahead of time of your intention to camp out or not, to save you a spot.
Participants that camp out Saturday night are expected to be self-supported in their return Sunday paddling back to their vehicles at Mustang Creek Boat Ramp. The campsite cost will be spread amongst those that camp, so there will be a small fee.
The trip is open for HCC and HASK members and a few of Constantin’s paddling friends.
Hazards: There are alligators in the area and all the usual suspects of SE Texas.
