This is an ACA sanctioned event. All participants in ACA-insured activities must wear properly-fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets (Personal Flotation Devices, or PFDs) at all times during on-water activities. Non-HASK participants must sign a waiver.

This is a Level 2 paddle. Please have the following:  One good headlamp, one rear-facing LED area light on your back or rear deck (Not too bright).  One back up flashlight in a dry-bag or (on deck), 3-4 glow sticks. TOne to have on the fore deck, back deck and the 2nd as a back up in a dry bag. VHF Marine Radio is helpful, hopefully we will have at least five radios in the group. We plan to paddle 7.7 miles with one, possibly two stops to stretch our legs. Note: There will be a "Campfire" on the beach at Access 5 after the paddle. Bring stuff to burn if available.



Be at the put-in on Amigo Lane just off the Blue Water Highway, across from Beach Access #5 no later than 4:30 PM. Paddles wet at 5:00.  Just enter Amigo Lane, Freeport, TX 77541 in your navigation device. It is 3.3 miles SW of the San Luis Pass Bridge and 10.5 miles NW of Surfside.

Water Temp: 67 degrees  It would be wise to have a set of dry fleece in a dry bag inside the kayak. Dry tops are good, have at least a decent non-cotton jacket. Dress for immersion. WL:

Food and hydration are strongly encouraged since we will be out several hours. Wassail will not be turned down...

If you don't want to drive home after the campfire, some folks will be camping on the beach.

Waivers - Please complete our easy to use online Smart waiver if you are a HASK member who has not signed a waiver within the last 12 months or a non- HASK participant. Read the waiver carefully.  You give up substantial rights when you sign it.  And provide the HASK Contagious Disease waiver. You will be notified if your are registered and we don't have one for you on file.
