Saturday, October 6, 2018 , the Jasper Chamber of Commerce will host the Dam2Dam Saddle and Paddle Ride and Family Fun Day. Kayakers and cyclists will pedal/paddle their hardest to get to Martin Dies State Park on Dam B. Participants, Register NOW for this exciting event...the first of its kind in the area! Call 409-384-2762 for details or to register using the link provided above. The fee is $45 and includes t-shirt, string backpack/bag, family fun pass to enter the park, great meal for you and one guest. Family fun includes live band, bounce house for the kids, face painting and games. 

CYCLING/KAYAK CLUBS.....Vendors are allowed on site if you wish to display.  Sorry, no sales inside the park.

 

Registration for both Saddle and Paddle events begin at 7 AM at Martin Dies Jr State Park / Walnut Ridge side / at the Group Hall. Paddlers can also register at either of the launch sites along the Angelina River – see below.

Paddlers and Cyclers start at 8:15 AM.

 

Paddle: There are two paddling routes along the Angelina River ending at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park (Walnut Ridge side)

Turns off of the river into the park will be well marked.

There will be Emergency Personnel and Refreshment Craft on the river ready to aid paddlers in need.


18 Mile – launches from State Hwy. 63 / Angelina River Boat Ramp (southeast corner of this intersection)


9 Mile – launches from the Bevilport Boat Ramp at the west-most end of FM 2799.


Shuttle: Paddlers are to leave their craft at the launch site and then travel to the Group Hall at Martin Dies, Jr. to leave their vehicle. There will be Event Staff at the launch area to secure your belongings. Event Staff will ferry participants back to the launch site prior to start.


Saddle: There are 3 routes that all leave from and return to the Group Hall at Martin Dies Jr. State Park – Walnut Ridge Side.

All Routes travel through Walnut Ridge on the way out and through Henhouse Ridge on the return trip. See attached maps for other route details.


There will be rest stops with water, electrolyte replenishers, gel packs and bananas along the route. There will be a SAG WAGON accompanying riders along each route to help riders in need.
