Get your booties out and join us for a  Level 2   15 mile backside paddle at a pace about 3 mph. We will do some optional rescue practice at our lunch stop. Spray skirts will be required, which means a club history of a good wet exit.

Please arrive at 9:00 am to paddle out at 9:30. We will paddle from the north (bay) end of Brazoria County Road 257S, off the Bluewater Highway, which is Brazoria County Road 257. Road 257S is about 3.5 miles southwest of the San Luis Pass bridge and about 10 miles northeast of Surfside. It's a pretty long drive from everywhere, so check your drive time and leave extra. There may or may not be a porta-potty at the put-in, likely a 2-star.

Our crack team of cheeky paddlers will traverse Cold Pass eastward to San Luis Pass County Park, then cross San Luis Pass to Galveston County, well inside the bridge to avoid possible rough water underneath. We will have some ocean swell and wind chop, depending. Tide will be gently ebbing all day. With luck, we will have a little wind on our tails. When we are exactly halfway tired, we will find a lunch stop on the Galveston bayshore and do some optional towing and assisted rescue practice in the bay. That mastered, we will expend the other half of our energy retracing our path to the start. We could face a little ebb current in Cold Pass.

This will be a fairly long tiring day. On each leg of the trip, we will find a place to bend over and stretch. Most important is plenty of water and sun protection. Bring a lunch, hat, extra clothing, and keep a rain jacket handy. Bring whatever you have of the following: spray skirt, paddle float, pump, radio, sling, tow belt, spare paddle, short tow, cell phone in a dry bag.

Lat-lon of the put-in is  29° 2'55.94"N; 95° 9'54.66"W

Subject to change due to wind or other conditions, our planned clockwise route is depicted below.
