Description: This is a  HASK trip on Sandy Creek which is an eastern tributary of the Navidad River. The boat ramp is immediately off of Highway 59 right before the bridge that goes over Lake Texana. On the last trip, we saw a lot of wildlife and no roads or marinas or even houses.  We'll do 6-8 miles round-trip on Sandy Creek, and then return to the launch site for lunch. Then 2-4 additional miles round-trip south into Lake Texana for those who want to extend the trip. That area has many dead trees, similar to Choke Canyon, and we have seen eagles there on previous trips.

There are no facilities anywhere except for one large tree off the parking area, but there is a RV/truck stop just before Ganado at the first exit for the town. It has a good small town restaurant. It's the TA Truck Stop.

Directions: Highway 59 just past Ganado. The boat launch is on the south- east side of the bridge immediately before it goes over Lake Texana off a short gravel feeder road.   If there is traffic on 59, it's safer to cross the bridge over the lake, turn around when you can, and come back over the bridge from west to east. You'll be exiting directly from the freeway itself; please be careful.
